At Baja Wing & Watersports, we’re a female-owned and operated school, run by a couple passionate about wind sports and dedicated to providing a fun, safe, and supportive learning environment for all our students. After living and working in Mexico for over five years, we decided to take the leap and open our own school, combining our love for the sport with the freedom to work for ourselves. Ilaria De Michele, our certified instructor with a decade of teaching experience, leads our lessons, while Emily Freeman, our experienced school manager, ensures everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. Together, we’ve created a warm and welcoming atmosphere where every student feels comfortable, confident, and excited to be on the water. We’re committed to empowering our students, helping them reach their full potential, and sharing the joy and beauty of the sport we both love.
Meet The Team
​Meet Ilaria De Michele, a passionate VDWS certified instructor specializing in wingfoil, kite, and windsurfing. With over 10 years of teaching experience, Ilaria has been immersed in wind sports since the age of 8 and has been wingfoiling for 4 years, as the sport gained popularity. As a pro rider sponsored by Go Foil, she brings competitive experience and a deep love for the sport to her lessons. Holding a degree in Sports Education, Ilaria’s teaching style focuses on personalized attention and ensuring her students' success on the water. Her dedication and enthusiasm make her an exceptional instructor who truly goes above and beyond.
Meet Emily Freeman, our experienced school manager with a passion for windsports and hospitality. With 5 years of experience managing wingfoil and kite schools in both La Ventana, Mexico, and Italy, Emily brings a wealth of knowledge to the team. Her 10 years in the hospitality industry and expertise in managing small businesses have shaped her dedication to providing excellent service and creating a welcoming environment for all. A kite enthusiast herself, Emily makes the most of every opportunity to get out on the water when she's not overseeing operations. Her friendly, approachable nature ensures that every student feels at ease and supported during their time with us.
